As part of Coutorture’s BlogTalkRadio Seminar series, we were joined this past Sunday by Community Partner Alison Gary, of My Wardrobe Today and Wardrobe Oxygen, to discuss how to maintain a loyal readership.
Alison’s experience stems from running her two blogs that can garner up to 30 comments a day. On My Wardrobe Today, she posts photos of her wardrobe daily (even on weekends). Keeping such an intensely personal blog might seem scary, but Alison takes the good and the bad with ease. One of the reasons for her success is the fact that her blogs are so personal, leading readers to feel like they know her, what she’s about, and the type of person she is. This closeness keeps them coming back, communicating via comments and email, and even help to boost her ad dollars.
Tips to get (and maintain) a loyal readership
1: Ask your readers questions
2: Make subscribing easy, either in RSS or email features
3: Make your email address visible, and respond to those emails
4: Visit your readers blog, and let them know you stopped by
5: Respond to your readers’ comments
6: Interact with your readers outside of your blog (social networking)
Listen to the full show here, including these tips and more. All of Coutorture’s BlogTalkRadio Seminars are available here.
Our next BlogTalkRadio Seminar will feature Kimmie of See Pretty Things and The Kitten Lounge, discussing how she manages to blog consistently. Listen live this Sunday, April 13 at 5pm EST.
